Home...yes, back in Iowa. It was so great coming back to the open sky and the rows and rows of cornfields. Though, its been two months to long. Im ancy. Is there somewhere out there that will want to make me actually stay?! Traveling across the country at age16 and not really settling into anywhere permanent has given me this crazy mindset. I am so happy to have the experience, but on the other hand I feel a bit wacko. There are so many things to be accomplished, but cant seem to figure out where to start. I am being faced with the question of "what do you want to do with your life". ah freakin! dont say it! dont want to think about it!Will somebody please tell me my future and reassure me that it will be OK

enough of that.
Took a rad little trip up to a suburb of Chicago to meet up with a freind along with my sister. It was good. Cleared the head a little bit. The purpose of the trip was to see Hanson. passed some totally cool sings that im kicking myself for not photographing. "Bong recreation area" was the first to be seen,then later on the ride back read a sign "family beer and liquor".

I'm sitting in my room watching some annoying movie called defiantly maybe and eating seaweed popcorn, im not really sure about the fishy sweet combination.
But otherwise, things in Hong Kong are good.
I went to the art museum of hong kong yesterday and it was quite amusing. After my art appreciacion class it takes me forever to get from one exhibit to the next.

They had a Louis Vuitton special exhibit. It was very cool actually, each room featured a different artists paintings sketches and designs who collaborated with Louis Vuitton.

I havnt really wrote much about life in Hong Kong yet.
I am here for the second time, but having a completely different experience. The city feels the same but obviously different people, different apartment, even the same things are different. Hope you fallow. The first few weeks were king of rocky, but im pretty well adjusted now.
There are just a few things I still cannot stand.
1. People spitting(they make it well apperent that they are about to spit a luggie)
2. The meat markets. Stinky bloody carcases haning from chains is disgusting.
3. People on the sidewalk. You cannot walk from destination a to b without getting stuck behind slow (usualy old) people taking up the whole sidewalk, bumping into people who just stop walking out of nowhere, or people coming at you with their huge cart things. The personal bubble does not exist here.

Those are really my only complaints.

Wanted:

A cozy aparment where I am happy to spend much of time creating. There must be a cool, hip, easy going vibe coming from the neighborhood. Everything about the city will inspire me in any way or another.

Had a jam packed day on wednesday. The dreams is where the day started. You know when you feel like you were only kind of sleeping the whole night? Thats how it felt, and in the middle of it I had some crazy dream that just made me really stressed out and annoyed. The cause of this might have been because I had to wake up at 5:30ish because I wanted to say goodbye to my buddy Nicole. So 5:30 came and of course snoozed in then ran down to her room and luckly she was still there. After saying goodbye I raided her room(with permission of course). She actually had lots of things I needed, including a desk chair (wowee finally a chair!). Now was the mission to China. Mainland China is just kind of odd. Since Hong Kong and China are kind of sepperate places, you have to go through immigration and all that, so its kind of a big trip. Other than the big trip, Chinas just doesnt seem so freindly to me. I have only been there on 1 or 2 day trips, so I cant I really know about it. Maybe its just really foreign for me and therefor im not very comfortable. Maybe a major reason is that the photo shoots I do there always interesting (not in the best way).
So I'm on the train to guangzhou and the guy next to me was freindly, but was like over my shoulder for 15 mins. reading my pshychology book. He went to another seat because the train was nearly empty. I stretched out my legs and slept for the rest of they way.
So made it through Immigration alright, got my tempeture taken by this crazy thing they point at your head and trigger some readioactive thing to get your temetuure. That crazy swine flu(some guy the other night gave me this elaborite discussion about the upcomming swine pandemic. hm what to think). So after immigration I set out in the pouring rain to find the mcdonalds where I was to meet the client. It was pouring rain, my shoes were soaking wet, everybody staring, and people getting up in my space saying MISSY! BLAh Blah... i couldnt understand them. Finally met the client and went to the music studio where we were shooting. As I thought nobody really spoke engllish. But it is okay, just got to be freindly somehow. They always laugh at the weird expressions I make. Anyway they asked if I wanted mcdonalds and i said no but they ended up bringing it anyway. To be nice and also because french fries are so tempting I munched em down. Though i left the chicken in the bag, and when i was trowing it away one of the girls opened it went for the chicken. That was weird, i mean nobody ever really digs into my garbage.
The thing about catalogue shoots in china is that they want to get as much as they can done in a short length of time. They like show you the exact time when you start and exact when you end. Because they want you to shoot as many outfits they can they are ripping off your clothes and frantically putting them on. It is rediculous! If every photo shoot was like this, I would go nuts!
On top of all this I wasnt feeling very well and there was some wierd reaction with those mcdonalds french fries and my stomach and people touching me and just everything. Then, the power goes out! ugh so we wait for an hour and start shooting again. So I was there for 6 hours and they only paid me for 5 because the hour of no electicity. What BS! I mean if they were more freindly and not ripping my clothes off for 5 hours maybe I would let that non paid hour slide, but I am not having it. The photographer was very weird. I mean he didnt speak english, but I felt like he hated me. He told the guy who spoke the most english who told me later that my smile was not so nice and i was kind of fat. I want my money now.
So yeah made it back to Hong Kong at 11 pm and had to end the night with another goodbye to my friend George.

That was a very long day. But it has not all been that bad. Had a cool shoot with Style magazine, the whole crew was really rad. We went to this poor village where all the houses are on stiltz and the travel around by boats. They even had a restraunt out there! It was good and they had veg food!

Agh..time to write my 5 page obesesseve compulsive paper.

I am back in Hong Kong, it has been 3 years since I was last here. Kind of strange actually, running into familuar faces that I had forgotten about. It seems like a lot has changed...or I have.

The living situation is kind of anoying...I live in a closet with a shower included. Its not all that bad though...it kind of forces me to get out on the street.

Didnt think I was an x men fan, but the new movie was pretty good! Gambit...he was a fox. Anakin is still numer one though.

I was reading a section about retardation in my psychology book, when this lady with a mentally retarded kid kept walking by and the kid was laughing hysterically. It was kind of ironic...i guess you would have had to be there.

adventurous weekend

This weekend was quite cultural. Quite adventurous in the food category. So Osaka has two main foods they are famous for...

Takoyaki which is this fried doughy stuff with a chunk of octopus in the middle. A nice Japanese getlemen was kind enough to let my try one of these octopus balls...though I gave the octopus to Jennifer. But very inserting... we thought it would be really cool to get them without the octopus...but they dont seam to understand the concept.Some google image of girl eating octopus ball

Okonomiyaki was the next misadventure. Sure ... just fry up all your leftovers, egg, noodles, dough, salad, and whatever you want fried. hence the name. Anyway...we ate these. I am not sure we enjoyed it but we could not stop eating it. You had to actually disect it..it was very confusing. Anthony Bourdain is crazy. How does he do what he does!?

Not to mention we found a hair in it...

The sushi was the best part of my weekend. I dont eat fish so obviously it wasnt a full on experience. Though I did enjoy tofu rools, cucumber rolls, and egg rolls. YUM. Its cute, the little plates flow by on the conveyerbelt and you just pick what you want. Quite intertaining watching squids,octopus and other own known marine life float by. Tomarrow we are going again!

I learned this week that Japanese people really do love everything to be cute. Take a look at these tedious lunches for kids...

I bet these "bento boxes" would go over well in the states!

This thing cracks me up every time. I am trying to determine why this package of pea's read kasugai peas and you. Maybe it is simply stating the relationship. All that is needed for the kasugai peas are me. Yah? That makes sense.

Last night was the party(if you couldn't tell by my raccoon eyes). It was a good time. First we met up in mark's apartment. He is from Canada and he is one of the 4 male models in Osaka. We pre partied there, ate some spicey chicken. Yeah I ate a couple bites of chicken, it was not to bad. The Aussi crew was really sweet. I think I have develped a new love for Australian people. They are a lot of fun. One of the girls made a cake, I wish I had a photo of that too. It was like ice cream snickers cake. It was melted and looked somthing like throw up, but it was very good.

Zah party was fun too. Danced to repetative techno. Chilled in the vip area (talking about frank senatra, he's dead hahaha). Yea there was this special book case door leading to this red decked out vip area. Though we couldnt order drink up there which was pretty lame. Met some cool people, had some meaningful convos, as well as not so meaningful conversations. We hoped around to a couple different places and when we finally came out it was light out. Yeah we partied the night away for sure.

Osaka is alright. I think its safe to say I like it more than Tokyo.

I woke up at 7 rather than 6 this morning, hate time change.
Today was the 3rd day in the casting van. It is actually kind of nice having somebody drive you around to all your castings. Sometimes it is not so nice when there is you and 5 others speaking in Russian. Today though, was a good day. My room mate and I in the casting van exploring the city without any hassle.

Tomorrow "we go to zah party" quoting the foreign models.

My roomie from Poland cooked a really good dinner for us tonight. Man who would of thought yogurt was good with vegetables. I should have taken a picture of it, it looked as good as it tasted.

The long trip is over, well just begun. The flight went smoothly and I have a nice aparment in Osaka. Its always a scary thing traveling, expecially when its a place you have never been before and if its in Asia.
Asia is a cool place and all, but it is so extremely different than what its like at home. It is confusing, there so many people, i dont understand a damn thing besides "arigato go zi mos" and it smells funny.
It usually isnt that tough to get on the airplane and go, but this time my parents and my brother carson came along to send me off to asia land. I got a whiff of the weird smell of asia and i broke down in tears. It was a mixture of missing my good people in Iowa and knowing that I would smell that smell for the next 5 months. The good news is, my apartment smells pretty good.
My apartment is lovely and luckely I have a sweet room mate. I am so lucky to always get paired with cool people.
anyways if anybody needs anything from japan such as some mangas, opium pipe etc. let me know 8D

yum...life is tasty.
Nothing compares to your mommas down home cookin. Zesty enchiladas, fresh salads, gooey cherry cobler, chocolate brownies with peanut butter chunks, fruit salad with sour cream and brown sugar dressing, just to name a few of my favorite things life has offered me this week. Hopefully my waist stays at its correct measurements or the Japanese will put me right back on that plane back home.
Any suggestions on tasty vegetarian life in Japan?
